1. In short
- ClassTogether uses no cookies.
- There are no advertising, analytics or tracking tools, and no fonts loaded from other sites.
- The few details the service needs to work are kept in the browser's own storage (localStorage, sessionStorage). They stay on your device and are sent to the service only when needed, for example when connecting to a lesson.
- Because these are strictly necessary for the service to work, we do not ask for consent and show no cookie banner. This matches the ePrivacy rules in the EU and the UK (PECR) for strictly necessary storage.
2. What the browser keeps
| Item | What for | For how long |
|---|---|---|
| Teacher sign-in (session token) | So that you do not sign in again on every page | Until you sign out or the session expires |
| Join code and the name you typed in the lesson | So that a page reload returns you to the same lesson with the same name | Until you clear the browser's data |
| Quiz session key | So that you can return to the quiz where you left off, without losing your score, if your connection drops | Until the quiz ends or you clear the browser's data |
| Random browser identifier | One vote per browser in the yes/no poll and the survey, keeping your energy level across a reconnect, remembering which exercise hints you took; not linked to your name | Until you clear the browser's data |
| Small preferences (the last course opened, the timer sound, the interface language, notices already shown, the virtual teacher hidden) | So that the page opens the way you left it | Until you clear the browser's data |
3. Visit statistics (Google Analytics)
On the public pages (home, feature pages, blog) we use Google Analytics to count visits. It loads only if you choose Accept in the bar at the bottom of the page; Decline sets no Google cookie at all, and your choice is remembered in this browser. If you accept, Google tells visits apart with the _ga and _ga_* cookies (up to 2 years); IP addresses are truncated. The classroom pages (students, teachers, the board) are not measured. To change your choice, clear this site's data in your browser; the bar asks again.
4. Error reporting
The pages carry no error-reporting tool and store nothing in your browser for that purpose. If the error-reporting service (Sentry) is switched on, only the technical details of errors that occur on the server are sent to Sentry, without a name, e-mail address or IP address. The details are in the privacy policy.
5. How to clear it
Clearing the "site data" for this site in your browser's settings removes everything. For the teacher sign-in, the sign-out button in the menu is enough. After clearing, you will need to type the join code and your name again at the next lesson.
